Dated 14th Sep, 2016- Another year in the
life and times of I seems to be galloping towards its closure. Another year,
among those other years, which appears to be fading in the memory and
is in
the process of being condensed
into a handful of snapshots in my mind
library.
While a major chunk of the year seems to have slipped away leaving very few things to remember, some key moments do stand out as good candidates for the aforementioned gallery.
Let's start with the beginning, shall we? I distinctly remember being in Bhopal when the year started, we had gone to attend my cousins wedding which was in the last week of Dec and I ended up staying over till the first week of the new year.
While we are at the beginning of the year, I also can recollect not having any sort of new year's resolution for 2016 on account of, among other reasons, a general lack of direction or aim in life xD
While I dont remember most of the things that did transpire this year, funnily, the most prominent memory I have of this year is rummaging through it, of getting up, working, driving, being tired, travelling, paying bills, getting diagnosed with thryoid (-that would finally explain the depression and the mood swings I hope), watching Ali tumble his way towards toddler-hood and still getting used to the fact that there is a little minion in my life.I feel it still hasn't sunk in completely that I've been blessed such handsomely by God.
This has been, albeit the somewhat drab routine, a pretty peaceful year for me. So my brother got married, there's that. I was in Bhopal to attend said wedding when one fine morning, after having spent the previous night awake tossing and turning in bed and without a single minute of sleep registered, I looked up thyroid on the internet, doctor google sure did deliver and almost all of the symptoms checked out, the depression, mood swings and lethargy were, after all my hormones having a field day in my body and that uneasy feeling down my throat, was literally, IN my throat, hehe.. Who knew? Right!
Another highlight was ofcourse Ali’s first birthday, Ali da pehla number! xD I adore how he loves me so unconditionally and what pronounced impact that little person has in our lives.
Was reading Abida Sultan’s, the begum of Bhopal who fled to Pakistan interview, loved her perspective of life, how she described liberalism and I quote, When Satan refused to bow, God could have overpowered him and be done with it, but, He didn’t, He said, Ok, you’re wrong, but you want to go at it? Fine, have you way! I LOVED how she described that, theres a concept eh?
Also read Jinnah’s second wife’s letter to him, such poignant thoughts, the intense emotions of melancholy and longing she manages to express, really did touch a nerve with me.
So the little things right, that’s what it is all about. The getting up, forgetting to switch off the A/C then going to office and attending a seminar on energy conservation part of life, how many times will I end up buying a blue shirt and then sigh at the monotony of my wardrobe? Little things make us, they integrate into our personalities. Anyway, its October nearly, THAT month of the year xD Used to love that poem growing up, Goodbye to the monsoon, October is here, the evenings are shorter, this time of the year :D
Anyway, will write more, if/when the need strikes. ^_^
